After a Workplace Accident, Your Health is Priority

Let’s imagine that you are busy at work getting tasks done, and all of a sudden you trip, fall, or otherwise seriously injure yourself. Maybe at first the pain isn’t that bad, but as time goes on you may need medical treatment. It’s important that you report the injury accident right away so that you are covered in the event that you do need medical attention.

If your employer has a worker’s compensation program, then after reporting what happened they should ask you if you need to see a doctor. You may be tempted to wait it out and not get an exam right away, however, your health must be a priority in situations like this.

Here are signs that you need to get help from a lawyer after a recent workplace accident:

  • You have been moved to another department
  • You have had duties taken away from you
  • You have experience a hostile work environment
  • Your hours or schedule has been changed
  • You sustained temporary or permanent disability
  • Your employer’s insurance company refuses to pay for treatment
  • Your employer’s insurance company has denied your claim

How your company or their insurance carrier handles your injury accident will tell you everything you need to know about whether you need a lawyer or not. Unfortunately, we may think that our employer is there to support us, but they may fail to prove this when something serious actually unfolds. It is not uncommon for employers to suddenly become distant or be outright retaliatory after an employee was injured at work. If you need treatment for injuries, then this should be covered under your employer’s workers compensation program, and without adversary actions being taken against you.

As a Workers Compensation Lawyer from The Law Offices of Mark T. Hurt has witnessed before, employers can be callous and negligent when handling an employee’s injury claim. You may need to recruit a lawyer to ensure your health takes priority, especially if your employer has failed to do so.

Client Testimonials

As a disabled claimant, I can’t thank Hurwitz, Whitcher & Molloy enough for guiding me through these past fourteen years. No one else wanted my Workers’ Compensation case. No one! It was complicated. There were a lot of issues that made things difficult. They stuck with it well over a decade with preparedness, intelligence and grace. Mister Melvyn, he’s a good guy. Cathy, she’s so amazing.

I became a client of the Hurwitz firm in May of 1997 due to injuries I received while I was a meat cutter at I. Isenberg Meats in Buffalo, New York. Since my first encounter with your firm and up until the present day, I have been entirely satisfied with the way your firm has treated me.
